The PHLster Enigma Express is a patented beltless concealed carry holster system that holds your handgun securely against your body without requiring a gun belt. It comes fully assembled with an included PHLster Skeleton holster (or City Special revolver holster) and is ready to carry out of the box. The Enigma uses a thin, flexible faceplate, its own dedicated waist strap, and a leg leash to keep the holster precisely positioned — independent of your pants, skirt, or waistband. Ready-to-Wear: The Enigma Express comes pre-assembled with either our Skeleton holster or our City Special revolver holster and is ready to use right out of the package. Put it on anywhere forward of the hips, and with one-pull adjustment for the waist belt and leg leash, you’re ready to get started right away.
How It Works: The core of the system is a patented, variable-flexibility faceplate that holds the holster flat against your body. Unlike a bellyband or clip-on holster, the Enigma faceplate provides a consistent draw stroke and stable concealment by maintaining the holster’s position relative to your body — not relative to your clothing. The textured surface grips the inside of your clothing, preventing the holster from shifting during movement.
Adjustable: The Enigma was designed with Concealment Mechanics in mind, and allows for precise positioning on the body. You can fine-tune ride height, cant, and position along your waistline. The waist strap is adjustable up to 48” and the leg leash can accommodate up to a 36” thigh.
Customizable: A variety of optional accessories allow you to tailor your Enigma system to your specific needs, including the Sport Belt (extends fit up to 64” and adds security), the Wedge Rx (improves comfort and concealment), and the Reduced Size Buckle (a slimmer alternative to the included Fidlock magnetic buckle).

How is the Enigma different from a bellyband?
A bellyband wraps elastic around your torso and typically uses a fabric pocket to hold the gun. The Enigma uses a rigid Kydex holster mounted to a flexible faceplate, which provides proper trigger guard coverage, consistent retention, and a repeatable draw stroke. Bellybands can shift during movement and often cover the grip with fabric, slowing access. The Enigma keeps the grip exposed and the holster in a fixed position regardless of your body movement.
Can I conceal carry in gym shorts, scrubs, or athletic clothing?
Yes. The Enigma was specifically designed for this. Because it uses its own waist strap instead of relying on your pants or a belt, it works with virtually any clothing — including gym shorts, scrubs, leggings, yoga pants, sweatpants, dresses, skirts, suits, and casual clothing without belt loops.
Is the Enigma Express comfortable for all-day wear?
Most users report that the Enigma is comfortable enough to wear all day after a short adjustment period. The system is highly adjustable — you can change the ride height, cant, and position along the waistline to find the most comfortable setup for your body shape. Adding a PHLster Wedge Rx can further improve comfort by cushioning the holster against your body.
Can I exercise, run, or do physical activity while wearing the Enigma?
Yes. The Enigma is designed for active use. The leg leash holds the holster in place during movement, and the waist strap stays put independently of your clothing. Users regularly carry while running, hiking, doing gym workouts, and other vigorous activity.
Does the Enigma work for women?
Yes. The Enigma is one of the most popular concealed carry solutions for women specifically because it does not require a gun belt. It works with dresses, skirts, leggings, and other clothing that traditional IWB holsters are incompatible with. The system is fully adjustable for a wide range of body types and carry positions.
Do I need the Enigma Express or the Enigma OS?
Choose the Enigma Express if your gun is in the compatibility list and does NOT have a weapon-mounted light or laser. The Express comes fully assembled with a holster and is ready to carry immediately. Choose the Enigma OS if your gun is not listed, or if you want to use a holster from another manufacturer. The OS comes without a holster and requires assembly.
What if my gun has a weapon-mounted light?
You need the Light Bearing Enigma Express (for X300 or TLR-1 lights with the included Floodlight2 holster) or the Light Bearing Enigma OS (for other light and laser setups or third-party holsters). The standard Enigma Express is for guns without lights or lasers only.
Is my gun compatible with the Enigma Express?
Check the Compatibility tab for a full list of supported models. The Express supports popular concealed carry guns from Glock, Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson, Springfield, Walther, HK, and Canik, as well as revolvers including S&W J-Frames, Ruger LCR, and Taurus 856. P80, Shadow Systems, PSA Dagger, and other clone/aftermarket frames are NOT compatible — use the Enigma OS instead.
What accessories should I consider?
The Enigma Express works great out of the box. Optional accessories that many users add include the Sport Belt (for waists over 50” or for a more secure feel), the Wedge Rx (foam wedge that improves comfort and concealment), and the Reduced Size Buckle (a slimmer alternative to the included Fidlock magnetic buckle).
How does the holster retention work on the Enigma Express?
The Enigma Express uses a PHLster Skeleton holster with fixed retention that is set at the factory. It does not require adjustment by the user. If retention feels tight when new, this is normal and will break in slightly with use.
Is the Enigma Express left-hand compatible?
Yes. The Enigma Express is fully ambidextrous. The holster and buckle can be configured for left-handed or right-handed carry.
How do I put on the Enigma?
Place the faceplate against your body in the appendix position (or anywhere forward of the hips). Wrap the waist strap around your body and fasten the magnetic Fidlock buckle. Attach the leg leash around your thigh. Adjust strap tension as needed. The included Quick Start video walks through the full process in detail.

Lifetime Warranty
PHLster stands behind the Enigma Express with a lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. If any component of your Enigma system fails under normal use, we’ll make it right. This warranty covers the faceplate, waist belt, buckle, leg leash, and all included hardware.

30-Day Return Policy
We accept returns within 30 days of delivery. New holsters, like new boots, can take a little getting used to. We strongly recommend wearing your Enigma for several consecutive days before making a final decision on comfort. Most comfort and concealment concerns are resolved with a few adjustments — use the included setup guides, instruction videos, and educational content to fine-tune your setup.
