Added Functionality - Discreet pockets offer convenient storage for essential gear

The Sport Belt is PHLster’s most popular Enigma upgrade. It replaces the standard 1.5″ nylon belt that comes with your Enigma, adding a comfortable 3″ tall elastic back panel with integrated pockets. The wider back panel distributes tension across a larger area of your lower back, significantly improving all-day comfort compared to the narrow stock belt — especially when wearing the Enigma tight for optimal concealment.

Enhanced Comfort: The elastic back panel conforms to your body and distributes tension evenly across your lower back. Two layers of heavy-duty elastic provide steady belt tension, which helps maintain both comfort and consistent concealment throughout the day. The wider panel eliminates the “digging in” that can occur with the standard nylon belt during extended wear.

Integrated Pockets: Carry essential gear discreetly with sewn-in pockets. Slim pass-through pockets accommodate extra magazines, flashlights, knives, and pepper spray. Wider stitched-shut pockets carry cash, credit cards, IDs, and small medical items. Pocket placement varies by size — see the product photos for pocket configurations on each size.

Easy Installation: The Sport Belt is interchangeable with the nylon belt included with every Enigma. It includes a laser-cut Enigma attachment point at one end and a free tail at the other. Installation is quick and straightforward — just swap it in place of the standard belt. Installation instructions are different for each Enigma model, so make sure to follow the correct video for your specific Enigma.

Compatible with All Enigma Models: The Sport Belt works with every Enigma in the lineup: Enigma Express, Enigma OS Standard, Light Bearing Enigma OS, and the Light Bearing Enigma Express.

Material: Black Sport Belts are made from poly material. Tan Sport Belts are made from nylon material.

What’s Included:

  • PHLster Sport Belt (in your selected size and color)

Want to carry a magazine pouch on your Sport Belt? The Mk6 Magazine Pouch Adapter is designed specifically for the 3″ wide elastic back panel of the Sport Belt. It keeps your pouch from sliding, so you can carry a spare magazine securely behind your hip.

Enigma Compatibility

The Sport Belt is compatible with all PHLster Enigma models:

NOT Compatible

  • Non-Enigma use — the Sport Belt is designed exclusively for the PHLster Enigma system. It is not a standalone belt and cannot be used without an Enigma.

Accessory Compatibility

  • Mk6 Magazine Pouch Adapter — specifically designed for the 3″ wide elastic back panel of the Sport Belt. Holds your magazine pouch in place without sliding.

Note: The standard Mk4/Mk5 magazine pouch adapter (for the narrow 1.5″ Enigma belt) will NOT work on the wide elastic portion of the Sport Belt. Use the Mk6 for the wide section, or the standard adapter on the narrow nylon webbing tails.

How to Size Your Sport Belt

The Sport Belt’s elastic back panel is meant to sit behind your hips on your lower back. It should NOT wrap forward of the hips, or it will interfere with the Enigma buckle. Only the narrow 1.5″ nylon webbing can pass through the Enigma buckles — the 3″ elastic panel cannot. If the back panel is too long, you won’t be able to tighten your Enigma.

When in doubt, size down. Elastics tend to relax and lengthen over time. A back panel that’s slightly snug today will be perfect in a few weeks. A back panel that’s too long cannot be shortened.

Measuring

Measure around your back between the 3:00 and 9:00 positions (hip to hip across your lower back). Use a soft measuring tape or a piece of string. Measure at the level you plan to wear your Enigma, which may not be the same level as your pants or natural waist. Round down to the nearest size.

If you’re not sure where you want to carry, measure the smallest part of your waist. You can use a smaller Sport Belt with a larger waist, but not the other way around. Do NOT use your pants size or waist size to order a Sport Belt — those measurements don’t reliably correspond to where the Sport Belt will sit on your body.

Size Chart

  • XS: 10″ back panel — 36″ total length
  • S: 14″ back panel — 41″ total length
  • M: 18″ back panel — 45″ total length
  • L: 24″ back panel — 51″ total length
  • XL: 30″ back panel — 64″ total length

Choose based on back panel size, not total belt length. The nylon webbing tails are adjustable and can be trimmed to fit.

Why You Should NOT Size Up

Some users want to upsize the Sport Belt so the elastic wraps further around their hips. This is risky and leads to a lot of returns. The Enigma faceplate itself can be around 10″ wide (Express) or 12″ wide (OS). With smaller sizes especially, choosing a bigger back panel doesn’t leave enough room for adjustment. Generally, the smaller you are, the riskier it is to upsize.

Pocket Placement

Pocket placement varies by Sport Belt size. Smaller sizes have fewer and narrower pockets. Larger sizes have wider and more numerous pockets. Check the product photos for an illustration of pocket configurations on each size.

What Enigma models does the Sport Belt work with?

All of them. The Sport Belt is compatible with the Enigma Express, Enigma OS Standard, Light Bearing Enigma OS, and Light Bearing Enigma Express.

How do I know what size Sport Belt to get?

Measure around your back between the 3:00 and 9:00 positions (hip to hip across your lower back) at the level you plan to wear your Enigma. Round down to the nearest size. Do NOT use your pants size or waist measurement — the Enigma often sits at a different level than your pants. See the Sizing tab for the full size chart and detailed instructions.

Should I size up or down?

Size down. The elastic back panel cannot pass through the Enigma buckles, so if the panel is too long, you won’t be able to tighten your Enigma. Elastics also relax and lengthen over time. If you’re between sizes, always choose the smaller option.

Can I use my pants size to order a Sport Belt?

No. Your pants size and waist measurement don’t reliably correspond to where the Sport Belt will sit on your body, because the Enigma is independent of your clothing and may be worn at a different height. Measure your back between 3:00 and 9:00 at the level you plan to wear the Enigma.

What can I carry in the Sport Belt pockets?

The slim pass-through pockets accommodate extra magazines, flashlights, knives, and pepper spray. The wider stitched pockets carry cash, credit cards, IDs, and small medical items. Pocket placement and quantity vary by size — see the product photos for configurations.

What’s the difference between the black and tan Sport Belt?

Black Sport Belts are made from poly material. Tan Sport Belts are made from nylon material. Both function the same way.

How do I install the Sport Belt on my Enigma?

The Sport Belt swaps in place of the standard nylon belt that comes with your Enigma. Installation instructions are different for each Enigma model. Visit the Sport Belt Instructions page and select your Enigma model for the correct installation video.

Is the Sport Belt compatible with the LEVO Designs belt sleeve?

No. The Sport Belt is not compatible with the LEVO Designs belt sleeve.

Can I carry a magazine pouch on the Sport Belt?

Yes. The Mk6 Magazine Pouch Adapter is designed specifically for the 3″ wide elastic back panel of the Sport Belt. It keeps your pouch from sliding. Note that the standard narrow adapter (for the 1.5″ Enigma belt) will not work on the wide elastic section.

Can the nylon webbing tails be trimmed?

Yes. The nylon webbing tails can be trimmed to fit. The elastic back panel cannot be cut or shortened.

How long does the Sport Belt last?

The Sport Belt carries a 1-year warranty as a soft goods product. The elastic may relax slightly over time, which is normal — this is one reason to size down rather than up.

Can I use the Sport Belt without an Enigma?

No. The Sport Belt is designed exclusively for the PHLster Enigma system. It is not a standalone belt.

How stretchy is the back panel?

The elastic back panel can stretch approximately 1.5–2 inches depending on the size. It provides enough give to conform to your body and absorb movement, while maintaining enough tension to keep the Enigma secure.
