The Enigma OS – Standard is the Enigma platform for people who want beltless carry with a compatible holster of their choice. “OS” stands for Open Source—meaning, you provide the compatible holster.
If you only read one thing
Enigma OS – Standard does not include a holster. You choose a compatible holster for your firearm. This is the right choice when your gun isn't on the Enigma Express compatibility list, or when you prefer a specific holster brand or model.

Our Selector Tool will guide you to the right Enigma model for your gun and accessory combination.
Check Compatibility →
You choose the holster
No holster included. You select and purchase a compatible holster separately, matched to your firearm.
Beltless carry
The system provides its own structure. Your pants belt is not required, which means you wear whatever you want.
OS-Standard compatibility
Works with compatible holsters from PHLster and other manufacturers—not limited to the Express gun list.
Who is Enigma OS – Standard for?
• People whose firearm is not on the Enigma Express compatibility list
• People who want to use a specific holster brand or model they prefer
• Anyone who wants the Enigma platform paired with a compatible holster of their choice
• Users comfortable with assembly and holster selection using the Fit Guide
How Enigma OS – Standard works
Most holsters clip to your belt, which means you can only place the gun where your pants rise allows. The Enigma changes that—it’s worn directly on your body, separate from your clothing.
What’s different
Your pants are no longer the foundation. The system is worn directly on your body.
What stays the same
A secure holster provides retention and trigger protection.
Why it matters
This innovative design allows the user to fine tune their comfort, concealment, access and even clothing style.
What “Open Source” means
The OS model is designed to accept compatible holsters from PHLster and other manufacturers. You're not locked into one holster—you choose the one that fits your firearm and meets the compatibility requirements. The
Fit Guide helps you find what works.
What this enables
- Carry without a belt on your pants
- Consistent placement across different clothing styles
- Position the system where it conceals best on your body
Is it like a bellyband?
No. A bellyband is a fabric wrap that relies on compression and friction. The Enigma is a chassis system with a secure Kydex holster—you get firm retention, consistent placement, and a stable draw without relying on elastic or compression.
What's included with Enigma OS – Standard
Enigma OS – Standard includes the belt, chassis, two leg leash options, and hardware. A holster is not included—you will source a compatible holster separately.
Holster not included—this is by design
The OS model gives you flexibility to pair the Enigma platform with a compatible holster of your choosing. Use the
Fit Guide to find a compatible holster
before purchasing the Enigma OS.

Is Enigma OS – Standard right for your setup?
Enigma OS – Standard is for handguns without a weapon-mounted light or attached laser. Unlike Express models, compatibility depends on finding a holster that fits your firearm and the Enigma platform.
The holster is the “make or break” piece
Not every holster will work with the Enigma OS platform. Your holster must mount through a compatible concealment wing with the correct hole spacing and grip clearance. The
Fit Guide walks you through how to confirm this
before you purchase.
Compatible shells have two mounting holes directly under the trigger guard
Check for enough clearance between the top of the wing and the grip
Three compatible wing types: ModWing, Dark Wing, and RCS VG2 — hole spacing must be ⅝" (0.625") center to center.

Holster compatibility requirements (summary)
- Two mounting holes directly below the trigger guard, spaced exactly ⅝" (0.625") center to center
- Must use a ModWing, Dark Wing, or RCS VG2 concealment wing
- Enough clearance between the top of the wing and the grip to get your hand on the gun
- Holster must fully enclose the slide (no open-top or trigger-guard-only holsters)
- No sidecar holsters (attached magazine carriers)
- No hybrid holsters (holsters with a leather or fabric backer)
- No light-bearing holsters—the Standard faceplate is not compatible with light-bearing shells
Do not modify your holster or faceplate
Do not drill, cut, heat-form, or modify your holster shell or the Enigma faceplate to “make it fit.” This voids the warranty, weakens the materials, and can lead to a dangerous failure. If your holster is not compatible, get one that is.

Have a weapon-mounted light or attached laser?
You need
Enigma OS – Light Bearing instead. The Standard and Light Bearing models are
not interchangeable. Do not mount a light-bearing holster to the Standard faceplate.
Learn why →
Red dot optic? You're in the right place.
A red dot optic is not the same thing as a weapon-mounted light. Optics do not require a light-bearing holster or Enigma. If your pistol has a red dot but no weapon-mounted light or laser, Enigma OS – Standard is the correct model.

What to expect when it arrives
Enigma OS – Standard requires assembly. You'll mount your compatible holster to the faceplate, route the belt, and adjust everything to fit your body. This is more involved than the Express models, but the instructions walk you through it step by step.
Assembly required
Unlike Express models, the OS does not come pre-assembled. You'll mount the holster to the faceplate through the concealment wing and follow the assembly instructions.
Expect a dial-in period
After assembly, you'll still need to adjust belt tension, leg leash length, and holster positioning. Plan to spend time over your first few wears finding what works and consider joining us for our next
Live Enigma Tune Up Class.
Before you start: have your holster ready
You need a compatible holster in hand before you begin assembly. Make sure it has one of the three compatible concealment wings, the correct hole spacing, and sufficient grip clearance. Use the
Fit Guide to confirm before purchasing.
Your first steps
- Read the safety information — This is critical. Do this first.
- Confirm your holster compatibility — Use the Fit Guide. Don't skip this step.
- Follow the assembly instructions — Written (left-hand and right-hand) and video instructions are both available.
- Adjust the leg leash — Shouldn’t be tighter than a pair of briefs.
- Test: stand, sit, walk — Record yourself performing normal movements to test your concealment.
Fixed vs. adjustable retention
Holsters with fixed retention are easier to mount to the Enigma faceplate. If your holster has adjustable retention, you may need a
Fixed Retention Kit to install it safely. The Fit Guide notes which brands require this.
Common mistake
Trying to use a holster that doesn't meet the compatibility requirements—wrong wing type, wrong hole spacing, or a light-bearing holster on the Standard faceplate. Start with the Fit Guide and follow it completely.
Concealment basics
Good concealment is a skill—not just a gear purchase. The Enigma gives you the tools, but understanding a few core principles will help you get there faster with less trial and error.
It starts between your ears
Don't rush to buy more gear. Concealment Principles are universal—they apply to every body type and every gun size. Learn them first, and you'll solve problems faster.
Find your sweet spot
Your body has natural "valleys" where the gun can tuck in rather than stick out. With a larger setup, finding this sweet spot matters even more.
Grip rotation & tuck
The grip (handle) of your gun is usually what prints. Getting it to rotate toward your body and tuck in is the key to invisible concealment.
The Poke and Check
A simple diagnostic: poke the grip through your shirt. If it moves easily, you need more rotation or tuck. This tells you exactly what to adjust.
Wedges: a powerful tool
Adding a wedge to your holster can improve both comfort and concealment. Wedges push the muzzle end out, which tucks the grip in.
Learn more about wedges →
The Keel Principle
A longer holster can actually be
more comfortable and concealable than a shorter one. Extra muzzle length acts like a keel, keeping the gun from tipping outward. This is why some recommended holsters come with added muzzle length.

Quick clothing tip
Fabric that hangs smoothly conceals better than fabric that clings tightly. Patterns and texture also help break up any subtle outlines. Note that dri-fit like materials will enhance printing issues.
