The Enigma OS – Light Bearing is the Enigma platform for handguns with weapon-mounted lights or attached laser devices. “OS” stands for Open Source—you provide a compatible light-bearing holster, and the Enigma OS provides the body-worn chassis that stabilizes and supports it.
If you only read one thing
Enigma OS – Light Bearing does not include a holster. You choose the holster that fits your exact firearm + light (or laser) combination, and the Enigma OS provides the beltless carry platform. This gives you the broadest compatibility in the Enigma line—but you must confirm your holster is compatible before purchasing.
You choose the holster
No holster included. You select and purchase a compatible light-bearing holster separately, matched to your exact firearm and light.
Beltless carry
The system provides its own structure. Your pants belt is not required for stability—wear whatever you want.
Broadest light-bearing compatibility
Works with weapon-mounted lights and attached laser devices (mounted in front of the trigger guard)—not limited to specific light models.
Who is Enigma OS – Light Bearing for?
• People with a weapon light that is not supported by the Enigma Express - Light Bearing
• People with an attached laser device (mounted in front of the trigger guard)
• Anyone who wants to pair the Enigma platform with a specific light-bearing holster of their choice
• Users comfortable with assembly and holster selection using the Fit Guide
How Enigma OS – Light Bearing works
Most holsters clip to your pants, which means your waistband has to do the work. The Enigma flips that—the support structure is worn on your body, separate from your clothing.
Body-worn foundation
The Enigma belt and faceplate anchor the system to your body. This creates stability that doesn't depend on what pants you're wearing.
Clothing becomes the cover
Your shirt, hoodie, jacket—whatever you wear—just needs to cover the system. It's not required to provide structure.
What “Open Source” means
The OS model is designed to accept compatible holsters from PHLster and other manufacturers. You're not locked into one holster—you choose the one that fits your exact firearm + light or laser combination. The Fit Guide helps you find what works.
What this enables
Carry a light-equipped or laser-equipped handgun without a belt on your pants
Use a holster specifically matched to your exact equipment
Consistent placement across different clothing
Stability that stays put when you move, sit, or drive
Is it like a bellyband?
No. A bellyband is a fabric wrap that relies on compression and friction. The Enigma is a chassis system with a secure Kydex holster—you get firm retention, consistent placement, and a stable draw without relying on elastic or compression.
What's included with Enigma OS – Light Bearing
Enigma OS – Light Bearing includes the platform and hardware. A holster is not included—you will source a compatible light-bearing holster separately.
Holster not included—this is by design
The OS model gives you flexibility to pair the Enigma platform with a holster matched to your exact equipment. Use the Fit Guide to find a compatible holster before purchasing the Enigma OS.
Faceplate / Chassis
A thin, flexible faceplate that holds the holster close to your body. The Light Bearing faceplate is designed for the mounting pattern of light-bearing holsters.
System Belt
Anchors the system on your body. Adjustable up to 46" waist (or up to 64" with the optional Sport Belt accessory).
Leg Leash
Helps keep the holster from riding up during the draw. Adjustable for thighs up to 36". Two routing options included.
Fidlock Magnetic Buckle
Quick on/off with one-hand operation. If the buckle creates a pressure point on your hip, an optional Reduced Size Buckle is available.
Light Bearing Modwing + Inserts
Adjusts grip rotation for concealment. Comes with interchangeable inserts—start with the short insert and increase only if needed.
Mounting Hardware
All screws and hardware needed to mount a compatible holster to the faceplate. Assembly is required.
What you need to provide
A compatible light-bearing IWB holster for your specific firearm + light (or laser) combination. The holster must have the correct mounting pattern and meet all compatibility requirements from the Fit Guide. Do not attempt to make a holster work if it doesn't meet all requirements.

Is Enigma OS – Light Bearing right for your setup?
Enigma OS – Light Bearing is for handguns with weapon-mounted lights or attached laser devices. Unlike Express models, compatibility depends on finding a holster that fits both your equipment and the Enigma platform.
The holster is the “make or break” piece
Not every light-bearing holster will work with the Enigma OS platform. Your holster must have the correct mounting points in the correct locations. The Fit Guide walks you through how to confirm this before you purchase.
Holster mounting requirements at a glance
Your holster must have four mounting holes on the face, spaced exactly as shown. It must use a Modwing-L or LightWing—other wing styles are not compatible. See full Fit Guide for details →
Use OS – Light Bearing when:
Your weapon light is not supported by Enigma Express - Light Bearing
You have an attached laser device (mounted in front of the trigger guard)
You want to use a specific third-party light-bearing holster
Your firearm + light combo needs a holster not available from PHLster
These brands offer holsters designed to work with the Enigma OS - Light Bearing. The Fit Guide has full details, direct links, and ordering notes for each.
PHLster — Floodlight2 (indexes on the light, fits most guns with supported lights)
Dark Star Gear — Rigel models (check for your gun/light combo)
JM Custom Kydex — Wing Claw 2.5 LB (widest variety of gun/light combos; choose “Enigma OS - Light Bearing Compatible” option)
Haven Defense Co — Budget-friendly Enigma OS - Light Bearing-ready shells
KSG Holsters — Good option for smaller lights and guns
LAS Concealment — Saya 2.0 (good variety including less common models)
PHLster is not affiliated with other manufacturers. Check the full Fit Guide for links and current availability.
Holster compatibility requirements (summary)
Four mounting holes on the face, spaced exactly per the diagram above
Holster must be designed and blocked for these holes—do not drill your own
Must use a Modwing-L or LightWing—other wings are not compatible
Must fully enclose the slide of the gun (no open-top or trigger-guard-only holsters)
No sidecar holsters (attached magazine carriers)
No hybrid holsters (holsters with a leather or fabric backer)
Do not modify your holster or faceplate
Do not drill, cut, heat-form, or modify your holster shell or the Enigma faceplate to “make it fit.” This voids the warranty, weakens the materials, and can lead to a dangerous failure. If your holster is not compatible, get one that is. See Enigma Safety Information →
Red dot optic? That doesn't mean you need light-bearing.
A red dot optic is not the same thing as a weapon-mounted light. Optics do not require a light-bearing holster. If your pistol has a red dot but no weapon-mounted light or laser, you likely want Enigma Express or Enigma OS (Standard) instead.
Confirm your holster before you buy
The full Fit Guide has direct links to every recommended brand, detailed compatibility requirements, and answers to common questions. Do not guess—follow the guide and confirm compatibility first.
It can be difficult or impossible to find compatible holsters for certain light/firearm or laser/firearm combinations. This is especially true for attached laser devices. If none of the recommended brands cover your setup, you may need to research further—and sometimes there are no compatible options. Confirm your holster plan before purchasing the Enigma OS. Ask Phil or contact support if you need help.
What to expect when it arrives
Enigma OS – Light Bearing requires assembly. You'll mount your compatible holster to the faceplate, route the belt, and adjust everything to fit your body. This is more involved than the Express models, but the instructions walk you through it step by step.
Assembly required
Unlike Express models, the OS does not come pre-assembled. You'll mount the holster to the faceplate using the included hardware and follow the assembly instructions.
Expect a dial-in period
After assembly, you'll still need to adjust belt tension, leg leash length, and holster positioning. Plan to spend time over your first few wears finding what works.
Before you start: have your holster ready
You need a compatible light-bearing holster in hand before you begin assembly. Make sure it meets all the compatibility requirements from the Fit Guide. Do not attempt to make a holster work if it doesn't have all four mounting points in the correct locations.
Your first steps
Read the safety information — This is critical. Do this first.
Confirm your holster compatibility — Use the Fit Guide. Don't skip this step.
Follow the assembly instructions — Written (left-hand and right-hand) and video instructions are both available. Mount the holster to the faceplate.
Route the belt and adjust — Set belt tension for stability, adjust the leg leash.
Test: stand, sit, walk — Make one small change at a time if something feels off.
Common mistake
Trying to make a holster work that doesn't meet the compatibility requirements. If the mounting points don't line up correctly, the system won't function safely or comfortably. Start with the Fit Guide and follow it completely.
Good concealment is a skill—not just a gear purchase. The Enigma gives you the tools, but understanding a few core principles will help you get there faster with less trial and error. This is especially important with light-bearing setups, which are typically larger.
It starts between your ears
Don't rush to buy more gear. The principles of concealment are universal—they apply to every body type and every gun size. Learn them first, and you'll solve problems faster.
Find your sweet spot
Your body has natural "valleys" where the gun can tuck in rather than stick out. With a larger light-bearing setup, finding this sweet spot matters even more.
Grip rotation & tuck
The grip (handle) of your gun is usually what prints. The Modwing and belt attachment holes let you fine-tune how much the grip rotates toward your body.
The Poke and Check
A simple diagnostic: poke the grip through your shirt. If it moves easily, you need more rotation or tuck. This tells you exactly what to adjust.
Wedges: a powerful tool for OS users
Adding a wedge to your holster can improve both comfort and concealment. If your Modwing insert isn't getting enough grip rotation, consider adding a wedge before increasing the insert size. Wedges push the muzzle end out, which tucks the grip in.
Quick clothing tip
Drape beats cling. Fabric that hangs smoothly conceals better than fabric that clings tightly. With a light-bearing setup, a slightly heavier or more structured fabric can help cover the additional bulk. Patterns and texture also help break up any subtle outlines.
Light-bearing carry adds complexity—especially when you're selecting your own holster. PHLster emphasizes education so you can make safe equipment choices and get to a stable, comfortable setup faster.
We accept returns within 30 days of delivery. That said, most comfort and concealment issues are solved with a little adjustment and guidance—reach out before giving up. We're here to help you succeed.
