Our AI Image Policy
We believe in transparency and honesty. You have the right to know when an image has been substantially altered by AI - and to see what the original looked like. When in doubt, we disclose.
How we use AI
To generate image backgrounds, improve lighting, or remove distractions. Never to alter the substance of a product, misrepresent its appearance, or alter how it conceals.
When we disclose AI use
We label an image "AI enhanced" and link to the original when:
- We generate new elements that didn't exist in the original photo
- We generate a photorealistic image from scratch
- We believe a reasonable person might otherwise assume they're seeing an unaltered photo
When we don't disclose
Not every edit requires disclosure. We don't label images when:
- We use standard, non-AI retouching tools to adjust lighting, color, or exposure
- We use AI for minor cleanup - removing dust spots, studio props, stray hairs, or similar incidentals
- We remove distractions from a photo background without changing the nature of the image
- We create content that is clearly not intended to look like a real photograph - such as illustrations, diagrams, or graphic design elements
Bottom line
If it looks real, it is real. If it's not, we'll tell you - and we'll show you what the real one looked like.
